Major Requirements

The requirements for a major in mathematics are 36 or 41 credits:

Group 1:
Modern Algebra I
Real Analysis I
16 additional credits numbered 300 or above
Group 2:
Introduction to Statistics
Discrete Mathematics
Probability and Mathematical Statistics
Geometry
Modern Algebra I
Senior Seminar
4 additional credits numbered 300 or above
Total Hours36-41

For either group: A maximum number of 4 credits in Cooperative Education may be counted toward a major in mathematics.

Students seeking licensure to teach mathematics from the state of Minnesota should complete the Common requirements and group 2 requirements, and also must complete a second major in education.
