Beginning in the first year and continuing through graduation, students build career readiness by connecting their Concordia education to meaningful careers and lives through through self-discovery, experiential learning, reflection, and professional connections.

How Students Build Career Readiness

• Career Coaching: Meet with certified Career Coaches to explore majors and career possibilities that match your strengths and values, clarify goals, and develop plans for future success.
• Experiential Learning: Gain hands-on experience through internships and other opportunities that help you apply classroom learning, develop career competencies, and explore career interests.
• Employer, Alumni, & Professional Connections: Build your network through career fairs, employer information sessions, networking events, alumni engagement, and other opportunities to connect with professionals.
• Job Search & Graduate School Preparation: Develop strategies for researching opportunities, preparing application materials, interviewing effectively, and navigating the job search or graduate school application process.
• Online Resources: Access career development resources anytime through the Career Center website in CobberNet and Handshake, including tools for exploring careers, finding opportunities, connecting with employers, and planning next steps.

Internships for Credit and Peak

Apply your learning in a professional setting and earn academic credit through an internship. Approved internships are offered under course number 390, with each department determining how internship credits apply to major and minor requirements. Students may enroll for a minimum of 1 semester credit per term and may apply up to 12 semester credits toward degree and graduation requirements. Internships may also be used to fulfill Concordia's Peak graduation requirement through participation in the Career Center's Internship for Peak course.
